Chef Maira Isabel was born into a culturally diverse family coming from Cuba, Venezuela, Spain, and Puerto Rico (where she grew up and currently resides). In 2007, Chef Maira published her first cookbook, Gourmet Para Todos Los Días (Gourmet for Every Day) that quickly went on to be the #1 cookbook in Puerto Rico and stayed there for more than 10 weeks.

She has been featured in numerous publications, television and radio shows, and has starred in numerous commercials. She has also been the featured chef on some of Puerto Rico's and Latin America's most popular television shows including “Levántate” (Telemundo/NBC Network) and “Tu Mañana” (Univisión PR). Chef Maira was also featured in "Bizarre Foods" (Travel Channel) for the Puerto Rico episode, where she acted as co-host with Andrew Zimmern. She is the newest chef of “Sabores de Familia” (Family Flavors), one of the most popular shows on Fox Utilísima Network.
